GO TOGO
CHARACTERS DESIGN PROJECT

Character design/ concept artist: Tammy Do

Client: Gazelle Automations

Year: 2023

Go Togo is an animated children's show that you can watch on CBC Gem and CBC TV.

On Go Togo, you’ll meet Togo, a subway car; Stella, a streetcar; and Wheeler, a bus, as they explore the bustling city of Transitville. Together, they pick up passengers, make stops, and go on exciting adventures, all while teaching kids about the different forms of public transportation.

Go Togo was produced by Gazelle Automations, a film production company based in Ontario, Canada.

In October 2023, James reached out to me for a character design project where the main characters were not humans, but rather subway trains and other large vehicles. My task was to redesign Togo, the lead character, to make him cuter and more kid-friendly. While Togo's original design was already in place, the focus was on revising his face. Specifically, I needed to adjust the eyes to give him a more approachable, playful look suitable for children.

After experimenting with several different eye styles, we ultimately decided on round eyes to achieve the desired effect.

Proto - the main character of the series.

The final three expressions for Proto

For the other characters—Stelle, Wheeler, and Dr. Repairo—I collected reference images to inform my design process. Using these references, I created sketches for each of the three characters. All of the character sketches include front, back, and quarter views to provide a complete perspective of the designs.
